Messing about by the river
With Dave, Mum and Dad around for the weekend a couple of weeks ago, we spent a lazy Sunday attempting to fish in our river. Our new rod was proudly put together using a garden cane, some string, a filed paper clip for a hook (couldn't find a safety pin) and a small stone and a cork. Success was assured!Baited with tasty bread and ham, our first cast ended up in the tree (ahem).

Having worked on that we were slightly more successful in that it ended up in the water and the fish came nibbling!

However whilst we had casting and baiting sorted we were a little lacking on the reeling them in side of things. We also had to dodge the swams who were patrolling, thinking that all the bread was for them.
All in all, the fish of the Wey river were safe and we ended up with the remainer of the ham for dinner.
However Dave has an upgrade plan in the form of a net...
